...a tale of six cities
How it all started...
Picture this: It’s March 2022. Another Monday morning on Teams to start the week. “How was your weekend? What did you get up to? Anything new?” he said. Awkward silence. We had almost forgotten how to get out and explore London where we live, and we were all certain that people living in Glasgow and Bristol and Birmingham etc etc were feeling the same. All looking for a way to avoid the monotony...
...after 2 years of Covid lockdowns...
There was so much to catch-up on. “New things to do are coming alive again in our big Cities and they need US to get out and do them” she said. “I’m not talking about once-in-a-lifetime experiences, but things which we can all do with friends and not break the bank, maybe trying out a new skill, grabbing a bite to eat or simply doing something to have a great laugh”.
We knew they had to be affordable for people, especially with the cost of living going up, but we knew there was a need for people to see each other again and enjoy themselves.
...back in the office...
Someone else said let's create a website dedicated to 6 of our biggest Cities to get people back out there experimenting and sharing new Experiences. And it would be a great idea to turn these Experiences into gifts – vouchers with a 12 month expiry date. “Most of us prefer to “do things” than to “have things” in these post-covid times, especially when socks as gifts just don’t cut-it anymore”.
...and so we began.
Someone else built us a simple website and we named it GuessWhatIDid. Why, you ask? Because now we have something to chat about on those dreaded Monday morning calls!
For now, we're focusing on our six big cities, but we have big plans for the future. So what are you waiting for? Get out there and start exploring with GuessWhatIDid!
